PETALING JAYA: An officer of the national anti-drugs agency was killed after his car collided with an MPV driven by a man suspected of being under the influence of drugs near Bera, Pahang, today.
Bera police chief Zulkiflee Nazir said the MPV driver tested positive for Erimin 5 and had been detained for investigation into driving under the influence.
He said anti-drugs officer Sharif Ali, 37, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 10am.
He said preliminary investigations showed that Sharif was travelling from Triang towards Temerloh when an MPV travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Triang veered into the opposite lane and collided with Sharif’s car.
Zulkiflee said the 29-year-old man and a 25-year-old passenger in the MPV suffered minor leg injuries.
