TikTok is primarily popular among young social media users, and since its release, the app has become a place for music discovery. Sometimes unknown talents see one track — or several — receive a boost, while in other instances, tunes from well-established artists, even some released decades ago, pick up steam thanks to one trend or another. Occasionally, songs even manage to become chart hits thanks to an uptick in virality.

Fleetwood Mac is the latest legacy act to enjoy the spoils of succeeding on TikTok, as the group’s non-single “Silver Springs” recently became the focus of a trend. After one of the band’s members took part and added fuel to an already-hot fire, the cut becomes a surprising bestseller in the U.K.

“Silver Springs” Debuts as a Bestseller

“Silver Springs” debuts on two tallies in the U.K. this week. The Fleetwood Mac classic arrives at No. 70 on the Official Singles Downloads ranking and No. 88 on the Official Singles Sales chart. The former roster looks only at the bestselling tunes on platforms like Amazon and iTunes, while the latter includes all purchases, including digital or on physical formats such as CD and vinyl.

2025 Has Been Huge for Fleetwood Mac on the Charts

While Fleetwood Mac has not released new music in many years, 2025 has been another busy period for the band. The group has scored a pair of wins on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts, as “Little Lies” debuted on the pair of lists back in March, and held on in the lower reaches for just one turn.

How Many Bestselling Songs Has Fleetwood Mac Charted?

Fleetwood Mac has now scored a total of 14 placements on both tallies. The group landed on the Official Singles Downloads ranking for the first time with “The Chain” back in the spring of 2009. The Grammy-winning rockers needed more than half a decade before they appeared for the first time on the Official Singles Sales list in February 2015, when “Go Your Own Way” debuted.

What Is the “Silver Springs” TikTok Trend?

The trend on TikTok connected to “Silver Springs” sees users looking into their past and referencing something that changed their life, typically for the better. Lindsey Buckingham recently showed that he’s paying attention to the fact that people all around the world are once again falling in love with “Silver Springs,” as he took to the app to play along.

Buckingham’s video features a black-and-white photo of him playing guitar, and the text reads, “In your 20s, you’ll be asked to play guitar in a band. It’s very important that you say yes.” He is clearly referencing his time with Fleetwood Mac, as then an image with several other members of the celebrated troupe is shown. Buckingham used not the traditional “Silver Springs” audio to back his clip, but rather one that has been circulating on the app that is mashed up with “Piano Man” by Billy Joel.

“Silver Springs” Was Never a Single

While “Silver Springs” is remembered as one of the most popular Fleetwood Mac songs — at least among those who truly love the group — the track was never pushed as a single. Instead, it served as the B-side to “Go Your Own Way” from the band’s blockbuster album Rumours.

Speaking of Rumours, that set appears on half a dozen tallies in the U.K. and climbs on all but one of them. Rumours even manages to live inside the top 10 on three rankings at the same time.

50 Years – Don’t Stop breaks back into the highest tier on every tally on which it appears. As if those two titles were not enough to satiate Fleetwood Mac fans, the band’s Greatest Hits also lifts on a pair of charts at the same time.
