Canada BPO NQX planning P630-M expansion of facility in Taytay, Rizal

NQX, a Canadian business process outsourcing (BPO) company, is planning a P632-million expansion in Taytay, Rizal, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.

The expansion is expected to create 725 new jobs in Taytay, the DTI said in a statement on Monday.

NQX is also considering sites in Laoag City, Dagupan City, or Legazpi City as potential provincial locations, the DTI said.

NQX operates in the country under its registered trading name, Quantrics Enterprises, Inc. The company has invested P1.43 billion into its Philippine operations, with 5,661 employees.

The company’s expansion reflects continued confidence in the Philippines’ information technology-business process management industry, Trade Secretary Maria Cristina A. Roque said.

Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go added that the expansion aligns with the government’s push to attract high-quality investments that drive nationwide growth.

“By bringing more investments to the countryside, we are creating quality jobs in more areas, while ensuring that the gains of economic growth are shared more broadly,” he was quoted as saying.

NQX’s planned expansion was discussed during a July 3 meeting between President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., Ms. Roque, Mr. Go, and senior executives of NQX in Canada.

Service exports grew 3% year on year in the first quarter, with telecommunications, computer, and information services accounting for 5.3%, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. — Beatriz Marie D. Cruz
