Appearing on MS NOW just as the Supreme Court handed down a ruling that allows Donald Trump to immediately deport immigrants from Haiti and Syria who have been granted temporary protected status (TPS), ex-U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance was appalled.
Writing for the 6-3 majority, conservative Justice Samuel Alito asserted that lower courts cannot stop the federal government's determination about TPS status, opening the door for a mass purge of immigrants desired by the president and White House adviser Stephen Miller.

According to the New York Times, the ruling impacts as many as 350,000 Haitians and 6,100 Syrians, and "...it is likely to have implications for TPS holders from about a dozen other countries.”
Speaking with host Stephanie Ruhle, Vance was blunt and to the point.
“I mean, I have not read the opinion. I have have made it through the holding,” she admitted before lamenting, “This is the catastrophic outcome that we feared.”
“The Court has held that the administration's decision to end temporary protected status cannot be reviewed,” she explained. “Look, this will be a very controversial ruling. This is a further indication that the Supreme Court is intent on consolidating power in the hands of the President; part of this larger unitary executive theory that this White House has pushed.”
