IFX Launches the First Market for AI Token Futures

IFX, the Intelligence Futures Exchange, today announced the launch of its OTC request market for cash-settled AI token futures. The market gives AI companies, API buyers, procurement teams, inference hosts, and market makers a first venue built specifically to request, match, and settle exposure to published AI output-token prices.

AI inference is now a direct cost line for production software. Teams can forecast usage, but they still face changing public prices for model output tokens. IFX turns that exposure into a contract reference: provider, model or index, side, output-token notional, maturity, and price.

Participants can post futures requests on the published USD price per 1M output tokens for specific OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google API models. They can also request exposure linked to Ornn’s Token Price Index (OTPI), including OpenAI OTPI and Anthropic OTPI, giving the market both single-reference and index-based ways to trade AI token-price risk.

IFX starts with a bilateral OTC workflow. A participant submits the reference, side, size, maturity, and contact. IFX checks the request, looks for compatible interest, and sends final terms to both sides. Contracts are booked only after both counterparties approve them.

Market structure is moving quickly around AI compute. CME and ICE have announced planned GPU compute futures, Shanghai Futures Exchange has reportedly studied AI-token futures, and Ornn has introduced token-price and compute-price indexes. IFX focuses on the API price layer that buyers see directly: the token bill.

The launch gives early hedgers and market makers a way to price AI token exposure before standard exchange order books are available. IFX’s roadmap includes a futures exchange with order matching, margining, and cash settlement.
