Humanity protocol hacked, 17 wallets drained

In an X post earlier today, Terence Kwok, the founder and CEO of Humanity Protocol, revealed a major security breach involving the platform. According to reports, the incident resulted in a huge loss of around $32 million. The post read:

“We've detected a security incident involving the compromise of private keys belonging to a member of the Humanity Foundation. As a precaution, please do not interact with the bridge or any liquidity pools until we confirm it's safe.”

The Humanity Protocol hack was initially reported by the on-chain analyst, Specter. The identity verification network was reportedly exploited, with about 17 wallets being affected. Initially, Specter stated that the losses were estimated at around $5 million. Later, the analyst clarified that the losses from the hack have reached around $32 million.

It is worth noting that following the crypto hack, the attacker quickly moved the stolen funds. They converted about $23.7 million worth of assets into Ethereum. At the same time, they still hold around $7.9 million in H tokens, significantly impacting its price.

Humanity token price drops 90% post hack

Humanity Protocol’s H token has been badly affected by the latest security incident. The Humanity (H) token fell sharply following the hack. Its price plummeted to a severe low of $0.07 today after hitting its all-time high of $0.8 earlier this month.

As of press time, the H token is trading at $0.1822. While this marks a significant 76% drop in a single day, it is down by about 75% in a week and 13% in a month. In contrast to this negative sentiment, the trading volume is largely positive. Over the past 24 hours, the volume has surged by about 129%, reaching $546 million. This indicates that traders are increasingly dumping their holdings, driven by the Human Protocol security incident.

CoinGlass data shows that about $11.5 million in H tokens have been liquidated across various crypto exchanges in a day. During the last hour, more than 3,000 tokens were wiped off.
