Unnamed Republican sources told Salon columnist Brian Karem that President Donald Trump would likely be impeached, convicted, and removed from office if a secret ballot vote were taken today.
Sources with ties to Sen. John Thune's office acknowledged such a vote is not currently viable but did not rule out a future possibility.

Karem reported that some Republicans see a growing possibility of a public roll call vote in the Senate occurring after recent controversial actions. A former White House staffer expressed concern that Trump appears more out of control than during his first administration, with approximately 1,000 days remaining in his term.
Former Republican National Committee chairman Marc Racicot criticized Trump's recent artificial image of himself as Jesus and his attempted intimidation of the pope, stating Trump shows no respect for the Constitution and is incompetent at managing government.
Racicot suggested the 25th Amendment could be faster than impeachment, though he noted no indication of effort to pursue it.
