KUALA LUMPUR: A man was killed in a hit-and-run while removing the warning marker behind his vehicle after changing a flat tyre at KM13 of the Cheras-Kajang Highway last night.
Kajang district police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 46-year-old man, who was driving a silver Toyota Innova with five passengers, stopped on the road shoulder at about 10pm to change a flat tyre.
“After changing the tyre, the victim was walking to the rear of his vehicle to remove the bucket that had been placed as a warning marker for other road users when he was struck by a red Toyota Innova.
“The driver of the red Toyota Innova then fled the scene without stopping,” he said in a statement today.
The driver of the Silver Toyota Innova was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Naazron urged those with information on the incident to contact Nur Faezah Zakria at 012-3268496 to assist in the investigation.
“We advise all road users to drive prudently, always obey traffic regulations and exercise caution while driving,” he said.
